Gettin my school on

School started today, so naturally I get a head cold.  Love it.  It's not too bad.  Nothing orange juice and a good night's sleep won't cure.  This is going to be a really busy semester.  18 credits and work.  Hopefully I'll be alive by the end of the semester.

So, you know how I got a new camera?  Well, of course I have been taking A LOT of pictures.  Here are some of my favorites I've taken:

Aubrey looks like she's about to bite your head off in that last one, ha.  Ok, well that's all for this post.

Current Read

I finished "The Help" a while ago, but I have just barely gotten a chance to update this.  I'm sure you have all been dying to know what I'm reading now, ha.  Just kidding :)

By the way, "The Help" was amazing.  I would highly recommend this book to anyone.  It's a funny, laugh out loud read that is also very heartfelt.  There was a day at work I quite literally laughed out loud and the girl next to me thought it was funny I was laughing at a book.  I can't wait to see this movie.

I am currently reading "Flipped" by Wendelin Van Draanen.  The movie is adorable, and so far the book is exactly like the movie.

Be My Thrill

On Friday I got to go to The Weepies concert with my friend Brady, and one of his friends.  It was so amazing! It was an acoustic set, and I was in Weepies heaven.  They sounded amazing live and amazing acoustic.  Pretty much just amazing in general.  It was at The State Room in Salt Lake.

While up there, I saw this cool sign.

Someone in Salt Lake loves me.  Awwww.

And we went to the coolest book store EVER.  It's called Sam Weller's (and no i don't just like it because it has my name in it)

It looks really small from the front, but it's like stepping into Mary Poppin's bag.  It's massive!   It's nice because they have new and used books, and there are 3 floors.  Full of books.  Heaven.

The State Room is a pretty cool venue.  Very intimate because it's so small, but that was perfect because it was The Weepies playing.  The only bad thing was it was freakin hot in there.  But the awesomeness of the concert counteracted the hotness of the venue, so it was alright.

This Week

Top to Bottom, Left to Right:

  • My sister, Ashley, and I taking pictures of ourselves.
  • My new room.  Moving is such a pain!
  • I was really bored on Sunday, so I took some pictures of myself.
  • Amberly's cool french braid.  I love the purple mixed in with it.
  • Running.
  • My kitchen floor.  I got my new camera that day, and by the time I got a chance to take pictures it was late, and for some reason, the kitchen floor seemed like a good thing to take a picture of at the time.
  • MY NEW CAMERA!!! And, my freakin awesome Killer's shirt.

Fill in the Blank!

Wow, life has gotten busy.  And school hasn't even started yet.  So, technically it's Saturday, but here's FITB anyways.  Link up with Lauren

1.   One of life's most simple pleasures is    the smell of rain .

2.    The heat + traffic + the never ending construction on I-80     makes me want to punch someone.

3.  I like   my new camera    because,    it is freakin awesome!

4.    snuggle   is a funny word (although it is very fun to do.)

5.  If I had to choose one beauty product to use for the rest of eternity it would be    eyeliner, because without it I look like I have no eyes.

6.  I'm happy that    I got to go to the Weepies concert tonight.  It was amazing.  They are great live.  If you don't know who they are, look them up.  You can thank me later.

7.  I would never     die my hair blonde.  This is a really random thing to say I would never do, but it's late, and honestly that's the first thing that came to my head.  But seriously, I would never do that .

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I think the title of this post explains my feelings pretty good.  Yesterday I went and got the most AMAZING thing ever! I freakin digital SLR!!!!!!  AHHHHH!!!!!!  Sorry for all the excalmation points, but seriously people, I am excited.  I have wanted one of these pretty much since I was born.  Okay, not really, but I've wanted one for a long time.

Excuse the dirty mirror.  I need to clean it really bad, as you can see.  Also, excuse the fact this photo is sideways.  For some reason it's not letting me rotate it.  Weird.  Okay, anyways, I am pretty much on cloud 9 with this camera.

The Boy is Back in Town

My friend Jeff moved back from Virginia and I got to see him yesterday for the first time in almost a year.  I'm so excited he's gonna be going to school here.

Me and him have a love/hate relationship.
The first thing he ever said to me when we first met in Ephraim was "Sam, why do you hate me?"
Those six words were the start of a glorious friendship.

The first thing he said to me last night was "You stink."
I had burned a quesadilla and smells attach themselves to me, so I smelt like burnt tortillas.
At least he's honest?

It was good catching up, and I'm glad he's on this side of the country, even if he tells me I stink.

Jeff will probably be mad at me because I put these up because really, there are not very good pictures, but
a) it's my blog,
b) I don't think he looks at my blog, and
c) he told me I stunk.

Mr. Mcavoy

A couple nights ago I went and saw Xmen, and if you've seen it you know that James Mcavoy is in it.  James (yes, we're on a first name basis) is definitely in my top 10 of hot celebrity male crushes.  Last night as I was admiring his face in the movie, a thought crossed my mind.  He really isn't that attractive.  There is nothing super special about his face that makes him cute.  In fact, he's kinda funny looking.

But the thing is, even if his face isn't the most cute face I've ever seen, there is still something about him that is dang cute.  It isn't always the face or the body that makes the guy hot.  It's the whole essence.  James Mcavoy is attractive because of who he is.  It's his charisma and his charm.  Okay, and his smile.  And his eyes.

Agree?  Disagree?

Okay, well I'm going to watch a movie with James Mcavoy in it now.

Moving is overrated.

Yesterday and today was spent packing, cleaning, carry heavy boxes, unpacking, organizing, decorating, and swearing to myself that I am not moving again for a very long time.  I moved into my new apartment today, and it's so nice to have my own room again.

I am in love with my bed.  I'm a little paranoid to sit on it though because my new comforter is white, and me and white don't get along.  But I got T-shirt sheets and pretty much, my bed is heaven.

My second favorite part of my room (the first is my bed, obviously) is my closet.  Seriously, check out that storage space!  I never thought I would be this excited over storage space, ha.

Fill in the Blank FRIDAY!!

1.   My idea of pure perfection would be      a permanent road trip.  Okay, maybe not permanent, because it's always nice to come home, but perfection would be being able to leave when ever and drive where ever, when ever.

2.    Kindness     makes the world go 'round.

3.  If it weren't for   the people who sit in front of me in movie theaters   I'd   always use the seat as a foot rest.  Why haven't they invented movie theaters that have chairs with a foot rest yet?

4.  Bloggers are  some pretty dang cool people.  I always made fun of my friend because she blogged, and now I do it.

5.  If I had   a million dollars    I'd buy you   a lot of things  .

6.  I'm glad it's Friday because    that means I don't have to work today and I move into my new apartment tomorrow. Ya yeah! The moving part is going to suck, but the having my own big bed part is going to be AMAAAAAZING.

7.  Something I'm excited about is    that my friend Jeff moved here from Virginia.  And that I'm going to the Weepies concert with Brady this week.  And that school starts next week.  I'm only partially excited for that though.

My Week

Top to Bottom, Left to Right:
Project 365

  • She is so cute when she's sleeping.  When she's awake it's another story.  Ok, she's still cute.
  • Laying out by the pool with Aubrey.
  • My bed.  I liked the lighting and I forgot to take another picture that day, so this is what I had.
  • Alli and I went to the chocolate.  That place is so evil, but evil in an amazingly delicious way.
  • Books from Border's.
  • Went hiking up Dry Canyon.
  • The blinds in my room.

Yet Another Post on Books

Borders is going out of business and you know what that means?  They're havin a sale.  So today after work I mosied on over bought some books.  They were very picked over, but I found some good ones.  Guys, I think I'm addicted to buying books.  I have a whole stack I need to read.  But I can't help it.  I love books.  And one day I want a freakin huge library in my house.  Like in Beauty and the Beast.

Today's purchases included:

"This Side of Paradise" by F. Scott Fitzgerald

"The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain

"Flipped" by Wendelin Van Draanen (Have you seen this movie.  If not, stop whatever you are doing, go find it and watch it.  You'll thank me.  I want a boy like Bryce Loski who will plant a tree in my front yard)

"Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison

I am pretty excited to read these.  Too bad school is starting in less than two weeks (whaaaaaaaaat?!) and I will have no time to breathe, let alone read.

Sittin' in my office with a plate of grilled bacon. Call my man Dwight just to see what was shakin'

Yesterday I got The Office DVD Board Game at D.I. for $2.  My life is now complete.

Ok, buying the board game did not really complete my life, but I was pretty excited to find this steal of a deal. It was in good condition too.  IT even came with Shrute Bucks.  The only sad part is that it is missing a few of the character pieces (like Michael, Pam, and Stanley)  It had Jim and Dwight so I was okay.  Another sad part is that the whole DVD is narrated by Toby.  His monotone voice gets old really fast.

Right now my family is babysitting a dog.  (That may seem like a random insert into this story, but you will see how it relates shortly.)  I convinced my siblings to play with me, and so we were just chilling in the living room playing the game. We decide we are done and I look over at the lid and THE FREAKIN DOG HAD BARFED ON THE LID!  The dogs cuteness level went down about 50 points.  I took a picture of it but I will spare you because it was nasty.  That dog "shruted" it.

Little sisters are the best

Friday night, Aubrey and I had a sleepover.  I went and picked her up and then we headed to Target to get treats, because what kind of sleepover is it if there isn't junk food.  We also tried on hats and took pictures of ourselves.

There is a bag at Target I have been eyeing f o r e v e r.  It was $40, and I couldn't bring myself to buy a bag I didn't really need for that much.  I kept watching for it to go on sale, and slowly the price went down.  Yesterday while I was there I saw it for $10.  Ya yeah!  Bought that baby!

After that we headed to my apartment and watched "The Little Mermaid" and ate our junk food.  Suprisingly enough, Aubrey was the one asking to go to bed.  Normally getting her to go to bed is a process that usually takes a few hours.  She is so cute when she's sleeping.

When we woke up, I convinced Aubrey to do Jillian Michael's with me.  She lasted about thirty seconds into the warm up and then she decided coloring would be more fun.  After that we went swimming in the pool at my apartment.

Then we went to Yogurtland.  I think trying to decide what flavor of yogurt to get and what toppings was the hardest decision she's ever had to make in her life.  She was in sugar heaven!  So I loaded her up with sugar and sent her home.

It was a pretty fun sleepover :)

Fill in the Blank

1. My most favorite birthday was I was in jr. high, I don't know how old I was turning, but it was me, my mom, and two of my friends, and we went to a haunted corn maze and then went to Denny's for desert and it was a ton of fun.  I remember laughing til my stomach and cheeks hurt.  That's a sign of a good time right there.

2. My worst birthday was a few years ago, my 21st I think, and I had just broken up with my bf the month before and still wasn't over it and I pretty much cried all day.  It sucked.

3. My favorite birthday memory is _all the ones in elementary school where you got to bring a treat for your class and they all sang you happy birthday.  Ok, maybe that's not my favorite, but you don't do that in college, so birthday's aren't as fun anymore.

4. The best birthday present I've ever received was I don't know.  I can't think of a specific one off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure they were all great .

5. The best birthday present I've ever given was I actually don't remember this either.  I always try to get something sentimental and not just a gift card or something, but I don't remember exact things I've gotten people.

6. Birthdays are the best day ever.  I love having one day that's all about the fact that you were born.  It's kind of a cool concept.

7. My favorite age so far has been this age.  The years just keep getting better :)

My Week

Top to Bottom, Left to Right:

  • Went to P.F. Changs with Ashley
  • Squaw Peak! One of the prettiest views in Utah county
  • Aubrey and my dad coloring.
  • I want all these purses! Target is so bad for my wallet, but cute for my closet.
  • Random picture of my shoes and the grass and the sidewalk.  Just walkin to my car.
  • Restoration discs for reinstall Windows 7 on my computer.
  • My reading stack.  The summer is ending too fast and I have too many books I want to read!

It lives!

A new hard drive and running three restoration discs later, it lives.  My computer is now working again.  I lost everything on it, which was really a bummer, but I'm so glad it's working.  But if it happens again I may drive down to Toshiba head quarters and throw it through their window.

Can anyone else believe that it's already August? I move in a week.  School starts in almost 3 weeks.  Weird!  I'm actually excited for it.  I'm also excited for winter to be here.  I know, i know.  Who am I?  Who wants winter here?  Only crazy people. Ok, maybe not winter. Mostly I want it to be fall.  If it was fall all year long, I would be in heaven.  I am so sick of the heat.  You can always put more on, but you can only take so much off . . .

If I ever meet the person who created Toshiba, they better run and hide . . .

Excuse the threatening title post, but Toshiba is definitely on my blacklist.

So about a year ago I bought a computer.  My first computer ever and I was pretty dang excited.  I got a Toshiba and for the first little bit I was loving it.  Then, three months (maybe not even that long) after I got my computer my hard drive crashed.  It was fried, and they couldn't get anything off of it.  I got a new hard drive (luckily still under warranty) and dang Toshiba hadn't given me the restore discs for my computer which are supposed to come with it so I had to pay $25 for them to send me what I should have already had.  AND THEN they sent me the wrong discs, so I had to wait for them to send me the right discs.

I was irked.

I finally got it working again and my anger towards Toshiba was done away with because I was just happy to have a working computer again.  Then yesterday morning, I was checking my email before work and a get an error message on my screen.  I took it to Best Buy and they just called to tell me that my harddrive had crashed, yet again.

For real?  What are the odds of two harddrives crashing?  I should play the lottery or something.  Luckily it's still under warranty, (which I should be looking at as a blessing in disguise) so they are replacing the harddrive for free.  I don't know if I lost everything on my harddrive, but I'm crossing my fingers I didn't.

Other than that, today's been good :)

Sundays at the Sands

Every Sunday I usually head home to visit my family.  Aaaannnnnd to do laundry. I can't wait until I have a washer in dryer in my own house.  That'll be the day.

This Sunday when I went home I discovered my family had new pets.  This time it's ducks.  It's always interesting to come home and see what new pets we have.

My dad didn't have to work today, so Aubrey wrangled him into coloring with her. It's the eyes.  You can't say no to her eyes.

Alli and I played scrabble.  I decided I really suck at the game and am lucky if I can get a word with more than 4 letters.
