Independence Day

I love the 4th of July.  This holiday is one of my favorites.  I love seeing everybody out celebrating our great country.  I love seeing the red, white, and blue and the flags waving.  This year we went to see the balloons and the parade.  We were able to see the balloons go up which was nice because last year it was too windy to let them go.  After that we had a big BBQ at my parents house.  Nothing says American like some BBQ'd hamburgers

I seem to be a day late and a dollar short these days, but that's life sometimes.  I haven't posted my Project 365 in forever! I'm hoping I can remember what I did each day and there will be a massive post to come.

Easter

I love Easter.  All the trees are blooming.  It's warm (well, in Utah that's never a given this time of year). It's a great time to sit back and reflect on the amazing gift we've been given by our Savior.  This Easter was spent babysitting four little boys, and it was fun to be able to hide their Easter baskets.  We also dyed Easter eggs and had a little egg hunt.

Favorite quotes from the weekend:

Conversation between me and two of the boys I babysat:
Alec: "Can we have frozen pizza for dinner?"
Me: "Yes."
KyKy: "Nooooo! I don't want frozen pizza, I want cooked pizza!"

Alec: "How old are you?"
Me: 24
Alec: "24 and you're still not married?"
Me: Nope.
Alec: "Wow."

Me: "You need to shuffle the cards."
Ky Ky: "Everyday I'm shufflin" followed by a shuffling dance.

Also, I am in the opinion that candy tastes better in egg form.  Anyone agree?

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

The Spiral Jetty

I love having days off school.  Especially when I actually go out and do something.  Friday when Amberly and I were hanging out, some how the Spiral Jetty came up and we decided to go.  What is the spiral jetty you ask?  Well, it is an earthwork created by Robert Smithson in 1970.  Ever since I learned about it in my art class my freshmen year of college I have wanted to go.  It even made the kick-it list of things I wanted to do.

Below is a picture I snagged off Google of what it looks like.  Certain times of the year it is under water because, hello, it's in a lake.  I read you could see it in October and November, but I figured since we hadn't gotten that much snow this year, we might be able to see it and walk out on it.

Monday after I got off work, Amberly, her roommate Kelsey, and I got in my Subaru (which made it there and back, no problems. Woot!) and we drove the 2 1/2 hours to get there.  It's pretty much in the middle of no where and you have to take a 16 mile dirt road that has cows on either side to get there.  My theory of being-able-to-see-the-jetty-because-it-has-barely-snowed-this-year was wrong and when we got there it was covered with water so you could barely see it.

It was still pretty cool though.  The lake looked purple, which was really cool.  I would show you in a picture, but you can't really tell in the pictures.  It was freezing too! And it was really windy which didn't help the coldness.

See all that white stuff?  Looks like snow, but it's foam.

All in all, definitely worth the 5 hour drive.  I want to go back in the fall when I can actually walk out on it.  Road trip?

Valentines Day

Valentines Day has always been a special day for my family.  We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and we believe that families can be together forever.  When I was young my family had the opportunity to go to the Temple and be sealed together.  We went on Valentines Day and so each year is a reminder that I am stuck with my crazy family forever. Ha! Just kidding.  When we adopted Aubrey and Issac we went and had them sealed to us on the same day.  My mom always makes a nice dinner (this year was chicken, potato skins, and green beans) and we each get a little gift bag.  Since Briar is in Virginia we Skyped her and set the computer up on a chair while we ate.

I'm pretty sure I'm still in a sugar coma from all the crap I ate yesterday.  So worth it though.  I hope everybody had a great Valentines and got to spend it with the people they love :)

Labor Day

Oh hey.

When you have a three day weekend, what is the best way to spend it?  Doing homework of course.  Well, when you have mountains of reading to do, that is what ends up happening. So me and Jason (oh yeah, he's kinda my boyfriend now) headed up the canyon to study before it gets too cold.  But then it started raining, okay sprinkling, so we left, and in all honesty, I really didn't get that much homework done.

So yeah, that was my Labor Day.

Insert Title Here

Is it just me, or do weekends days go by faster than any other days?  Today is a holiday (Pioneer day for those of you who are not in Utah. Ok, it's really the 24th, but because it was a Sunday, it's being celebrated today), so I suppose that makes the weekend better except for the fact I didn't get work off.  That's okay though, it was fun anyways.  After I got off work, my sisters Ashley, Briar, and Melissa came over.  We chilled at my apartment until Allison got off work and then we went to IN-N-OUT for lunch/dinner.

After that we went to Yogurtland because I have now got my sisters addicted to the deliciousness.  4 down, the rest of the world to go.  They have a Hello Kitty theme going on now, so their cups are HelloKitty and their spoons are HelloKitty.  They are freakin cute and make eating the yogurt that much better.

After that we went back to my apartment and watched way too many Youtube videos, (like this one, and this one, and this one.) but were cracking up because we are easily amused.  If you click on these links and think they are as hilarious as we do then I think we could be friends because we have the same weird sense of humor.

After losing some brain cells on Youtube we went to Nickelcity and won a buttload of tickets.  It was great.  It is ran by an old couple and the old guy wears a toupee which kinda made me happy.
