Sleepover with the Little Sis

This weekend I got to chill with this little cutie.  I had told her she could sleep over at my apartment, and she didn't let me forget about it all week.  We started the night off with a little USwirl.  Then we headed up Provo Canyon and sat by the falls for awhile.  I took her to a bonfire where she consumed her body weight in sugar.  The next day she went to church with me, fed some ducks, then zonked out in my car on the way home.  I guess I wore her out :)

Insert Cool Title Here

One of the best things about the weather getting warmer is running outside.  Amberly and I went down to the trail by Utah Lake the other day for our run.  It was a pretty run, but we were being attacked by mosquitoes the whole time.  I guess that can work in our favor because we had to run away from the mosquitoes.

Anyone know of some good running shoes?  I'm in need of some new ones.

Fill in the Blank!

1.  Today is a great day because,   it was my last final.  Ahhh!!! Such a good feeling!

2.   Tomorrow I will   go to work, and then since I no longer have school my goal is to deep clean my room.  Go through my clothes, all my papers, under my bed, etc.  Spring cleaning time!

3.  My favorite time of day is    the time right after the sun goes down but before it gets dark     because     the clouds are usually gorgeous and it's such a brief moment  .

4. Sometimes you just have to     learn to let go of the things that are holding you back and realize that there is something so much better ahead.

5. A song that I just can't get enough of lately is   "Stay" by Sugarland.

6. My favorite accessory is    a cute pair of earrings or a scarf .

7.  My favorite thing about this week was   going and seeing Titanic in the movie theater.

You can be blasé about some things but not about Titanic

Ah, Titanic.  This will go down as one of the best movies ever.  I finally got around to seeing it on Wednesday.  I'm not the biggest fan of 3D but I really wanted to see it in the theater again, so it was worth having to wear the annoying glasses for 3 hours.  We went to a matinee on a weekday so there was no one else in the theater.  It was pretty awesome.  There is something about that movie on the big screen that makes my tear ducts go crazy.  Like the scene where Rose is on the safety boat going down and Jack is on the Titanic and they are just looking at each other.  Or the scene when the old people are laying on the bed with the water is coming in their room.  I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it.

The Weekend Thus Far.

Weekends where I don't have to work are the best.  Friday night my sister Alli and I hung out.  We went to dinner at Olive Garden and then we went to Target where we tried on tons of clothing that neither of us bought.  Then my friend Jeff met up with us, and we went to USwirl.  It's a yogurt place by my house that just might give Yogurtland a run for it's money. (Gasp! Did I just bad mouth Yogurtland?!) I never thought I'd find somewhere I like more than Yogurtland.

We headed to my parents house where my sister Briar (Ahh! She's home!) was juicing stuff.  They got a juicer so they have been juicing everything. This one was apples, pineapple, kale, and carrots.  Anyone have any good juice recipes?

After that, I went to some friends apartment and we watched Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Everyone needs a little Harrison Ford in their life.

Saturday I went and helped out a service project with some people from my ward.  We helped clean up the Provo River Trail by the Provo docks which involved a lot of sawing branches, dragging branches to the side of the road, and raking up the rest of the branches.  My poor arms have battle wounds from all the branches.  They gave us free KFC for lunch, so I was pretty okay with the scratches.

Later that night Caitlyn, Jeff, and I went to see "The Lucky One."  I thought it was pretty good.  Honestly, I didn't have very high expectations for it, but ending up liking it.  Have you seen it?  Did you like it? Hate it?  Like it only because Zac hotty bo botty Efron was in it?

After that I spent the rest of the night in bed watching "New Girl" because my stomach was being weird.  Lame-o stomach.  All in all, it was a pretty good weekend.  Hope everyone else had a great weekend :)

Sometimes People Are Beautiful.

I finished "I Am The Messenger" today. I loved it. If you haven't read it, I would highly recommend it.  Markus Zusak is such an amazing writer.  The book is beautiful.   I know that sounds weird, but Zusak has such an amazing way of using words and creates a really good story.  There were a lot of quotes from the book that I loved.  Here are a few:

“Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.”

“I'd rather chase the sun than wait for it.”

"Maybe everyone can live beyond what they're capable of. ”

My new read is "Summer of the Monkey's" by Wilson Rawls.

This summer is going to be spent reading a bunch of children's so I can have some good ideas of what to read to my class next year.  Speaking of which, do you guys have any favorite children's books that 3rd graders would like?  If so, let me know!

Linking Up x2

I am linking up with two blogs today, because I am cool like that.

First up, I am linking up with Ashley and Eryka,  This week's topic is celebrity crushes

Mine changes periodically.  It used to be the free credit report.com guy but then I realized the Chris Hemsworth is soooo much cuter.

Let's all just take a moment and admire that face.  I swoon.

Also, Ryan Gosling is a very attractive man.

And last, but certainly not least, Jim Sturgess.

And for my second link up, Miss Gentri's 7 Questions:

1. What is your favorite App? (even if you don't have a smart phone I'm sure you've played around with someone else's)
Instagram.  Coolest photo effects.  Does anyone know any other cool apps?

2. You have to come up with a book title on the spot- what is it? (don't think- just say!)

Insert Title Here.
That seriously was the first thing that came to my mind, but I kinda like it.

3. You are given the choice between laughing at everything- always, or never being able to laugh again. Which would you choose?
Ugh, this is a hard one.  Does that mean that you laugh at everything anyone says?  Like someone tells you their mom dies and you laugh at them?  Or is it anything funny someone says?  Because if it's just at funny stuff (even if it's not that funny) then I'd choose laughing at everything.  But if not, then I would never laugh again, as long as I could still smile.  If I can't even smile, then I'd choose laughing at everything and just have different levels of laughing.
I'm very particular about my would you rather questions.

4. What natural disaster scares you the most? (tornado, hurricane, earthquake, flood, etc)

An Earthquake.  Tornadoes you can usually see coming.  Same with hurricanes and floods, but with an earthquake they just kinda come.  Sunny day.  Cloudy day.  They don't care.  Also, because Utah is on a giant fault line, so it hits closer to home.

5. What time do you wake up each day? What time do you go to sleep?
My alarm goes off at 6:30 every morning, but I usually hit the snooze until about 6:40.  I'm a baby about sleep so I usually go to bed around 10:30 so I can get my 8 hours.  It's all about the R.E.M. cycle people.

6. (question courtesy of Katie) Who's your daddy, and what does he do?
My dad is Jim Sands, and he is the best dad ever.  He looks like Robin Williams.  He works at Alpine Gas Fireplace and at Home Depot.  He's one of those guys who can fix anything and has a funny sense of humor.  I got pretty lucky in the dad department.

7. What's the craziest dream you've ever had? (like an actual dream- while you were sleeping)
I know I've had some weird, crazy dreams but I really don't remember any of them well enough to tell anyone about them.  I like dreaming though.  It's like getting to watch T.V. while you sleep.

She's Home!

My sister has spent the past couple years in Virginia, so it was a rare occasion when I got to see her.   Yesterday she flew in for good.  For the next few months anyways.  I love that she is back, because she gives the best hugs.  I'm not even kidding.  It's ridiculous how good her hugs are.  We hung out and BBQ'd some good food.  And I got a hug :)

New Read.

I finished Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone today and started a new read.  I love that I'm getting more time to read now.

My new read is "I Am The Messenger" by Markus Zusak.  I've been wanting to read this for awhile and got it for Christmas, but I forgot about it.  I'm tellin ya, I'm losing my mind these days.

Also, have you seen I Am Sam?  If not, you need to watch it.  Like, today.  It is such a good movie.  The story is awesome.  The music is amazing! (I am a sucker for anything Beatles). You'll laugh.  You'll cry.  Okay, I'm going to go watch it now.

Fill in the Blank

Holy cow, it's been awhile since I've done one of these.  I'm linking up today with Lauren.

1.  Today is a good day because   almost all of my homework and assignments are done for the semester! Woot! I submitted my math assignment today (good riddance stupid paper!) and now I only have a few more projects to finish up.  Yay!   .

2.   The best thing I did all week was    finish that stupid math assignment.  That's not a really cool/fun thing to do but it's done. Holla!

3.  The current weather is     rainy       and it makes me feel     happy because I like the rain  .

4. The best thing about spring is   seeing all of the blossoms on the trees.  I love it! It makes me happy to be driving down the street and see the pink and purple and white on all the trees.

5. A fashion trend that I'm dying to try out for spring is   colored pants.  I want to get a pair of those so bad! But what color?  That is the question.

6. A person who made me smile this week was    my sister Briar.  I talked to her on the phone the other day and it's always good.  She gets home on Monday! Yay!

7.  The most delicious thing I ate all week was   nothing really note worthy actually.  I ate a frozen pizza for dinner today and that's the most exciting thing I've eaten all week .

Easter

I love Easter.  All the trees are blooming.  It's warm (well, in Utah that's never a given this time of year). It's a great time to sit back and reflect on the amazing gift we've been given by our Savior.  This Easter was spent babysitting four little boys, and it was fun to be able to hide their Easter baskets.  We also dyed Easter eggs and had a little egg hunt.

Favorite quotes from the weekend:

Conversation between me and two of the boys I babysat:
Alec: "Can we have frozen pizza for dinner?"
Me: "Yes."
KyKy: "Nooooo! I don't want frozen pizza, I want cooked pizza!"

Alec: "How old are you?"
Me: 24
Alec: "24 and you're still not married?"
Me: Nope.
Alec: "Wow."

Me: "You need to shuffle the cards."
Ky Ky: "Everyday I'm shufflin" followed by a shuffling dance.

Also, I am in the opinion that candy tastes better in egg form.  Anyone agree?

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

Week #15

Goal this week: Listen to at least 1 talk from General Conference a day.  I did this a few days last week while I was driving to the school, and it's amazing the difference it makes in my day.  I am especially in love with Elder Holland's talk.

This Week.

  • The best Girl Scout cookies there are.
  • Indiana's talent show.  He played "Naive" by the Kooks and had all the girls swooning.
  • Converse are not comfortable to stand in for 8 hours.  Note to self: need new shoes for teaching.
  • Isaac was in a school production of "Mary Poppins" and they did such a good job!  I'm not just saying that because my bro was in it and it's what you have to say.  I was very impressed that 5th and 6th graders could do as good a job as they did.
  • Tired after a long day of school and babysitting.
  • One of the boys I babysat trying to butter me up with dandelions.
