New Current Read

Woah! It's been awhile since I've had a new one of these!  I just finished "Invisible Man" by Ralph Elison.  It was a good read.  Kinda long, but a good story.  My new current read is "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini.  He is the author of "The Kite Runner" and if it's anything like that book, I know I'll love it. I bought the book over the summer and it's been on my To Read list forever.  Hopefully Christmas break will bring a lot of reading of good books aside from text books.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Wow, this week flew.  I can't believe tomorrow is Monday and that I have to go back to school.  Blah.  But that means 3 weeks until the semester is over. BOO YEAH!!!!  This week will be spent doing lots of homework and trying to work off the turkey from last week.

The rest of the week was really fun.  I had to work Friday morning, but spent the rest of the day chilling with my family.  Saturday we headed up to Salt Lake and spent the day there.  We did some shopping, saw "Breaking Dawn"  (which I thought was kinda cheesy.  Like there were a couple times I laughed out loud because of the cheese.  But I'm sucked into the cheesy-ness)  We did more shopping, and then walked around Temple Square to see the lights.  A lot of the pictures came out blurry because of the lack of light, so I just went with it.  I kinda like them tho . . .  After Temple Square we went to Applebee's for dinner for my sisters birthday.

Don't the lights just make you want Christmas here? Like, right now.  It does for me.  Less than a month!

Thanksgiving Part 2

The rest of Thanksgiving brought lots of eating of delicious food and laughing.  At one point my Grandma and mom yelled for me to come downstairs, because Eek (my uncle Eric) had chopped off his finger.  I admit, I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't real.  I should've known when my Grandma was yelling for me to bring my camera, because who does that if someone really chopped off their finger?  Sorry if this grosses anyone out!

After we ate, we sat around and talked and then watched some movies.  We watched "Limitless" (which is really good BTW) and "The Walking Dead" (which is weird that I like because it's about Zombie's but it actually is pretty good).

It's always good to have this time to sit and think about what I'm really grateful for.  It's so easy to get caught up and worry about what I don't have, and what isn't going right, that I forget what I do have and what is going right.  I have been very blessed in my life, and I'm glad I had this opportunity to remember that.

And that was Thanksgiving 2011.

Fill in the Blank

1.   Waking up at the break of dawn to go shopping is my idea of   an overrated experience.  I have yet to find a deal worth getting out of bed for.  I went a few years ago and the lines are not worth it to me.

2.   If I were to go shopping today I would be on the hunt for   movies      .

3.  The best thing I ate yesterday was    the green goodness.  That's not the real name but that's what I call it.  Mmmmm, it's a pistachio desert thing that is heaven in my mouth   .

4. Something I've been learning lately is    that life is funny sometimes    .

5.  I cannot start my day without   taking a shower.  I feel all gross if I don't shower in the morning .

6.  My nighttime attire consists of   usually a giant t-shirt and sweat pants.  Sometimes I ditch the sweat pants though because sleeping pantless is the bomb .

7.  I am looking forward to   the end of the semester!  Ahhhh! I just have to survive the next three weeks and then freedom from homework.  Til January that is  .

Thanksgiving Part 1

Aww Thanksgiving.  This year was pretty great.  My grandma and my uncle came down from Arizona to spend Thanksgiving with us, and it's been great.  I was sad Briar couldn't be here with us though.  The night before we went to see a movie, "Arthur Christmas," which was actually pretty cute.  We saw it in 3D, (which in my opinion is totally overrated).

The  morning of Thanksgiving, Amberly, my sister Ashley, and I ran the Turkey Trot 5K.  I'm thinking this may be a tradition, so I don't feel so bad about eating my body weight in turkey deliciousness.

Later, we had our first, maybe annual turkey bowl.  It was pretty intense.  We divided into teams and choose names.  My team was Gryffindor.  Ya yeah!  Most of us really didn't know how to play, so it was pretty interesting.

Highlights: Aubrey running in the opposite direction she was supposed to go pretty much every time she got the ball.

Indiana jumping on my dad and hanging on his back, but my dad kept running with him on his back.

Let's Get Lost

Can I just say how much I want it to be 12:01PM on Wednesday?  That will mean I am done with work (for the most part. Still bitter about the fact I have to work Friday morning when I originally didn't have to.  I think I'm getting sick . . . cough cough) and school until the following Monday.  Can't wait! And then two more weeks until the semester is over.  Ahh! I still have a bunch of assignments for field and I have a feeling I'm going to be hating life those two weeks as a struggle to get everything done.  But as for this moment, I have zero desire or motivation to do any of it.

This weekend has been pretty fun.  Friday night my friend Jeff and I hung out.  We got dinner at Applebee's and then went to his uncle's concert.  It was pretty fun and his uncle was entertaining and a freakin sweet guitar player.  After that we wanted to watch a movie, so we hit up the Blockbuster just to come back to my apartment and watch one of the movies I already had, ha.  Has anyone seen Hanna?  Feelings?  Liked it?  I'm thinking I fell asleep during the part where the explained things because I have no idea why she was an 80lb killing machine.  All I know is she was taking people out like crazy.

I have become obsessed with this song.

Lovin it.  Ignore the creepy man staring at you as you listen.

My grandma and uncle flew in from Arizona yesterday, and I'm excited to spend some time with them.  Our visits are way too spread out, so it's always a treat to see them.  So far we've done a lot of talking, laughing, movie watching, and eating.

So here's to this week.  Fingers crossed it goes by fast until Wednesday and then slows down.  Now I will leave you with cute quotes from children that I found on Megan Danielle's blog about what love is and they were just so cute that I had to share.  Had to.

Rebecca- age 8: "When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."
Billy - age 4: "When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Karl - age 5: "Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
Mark - age 6: "Love is when Mummy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
Terri - age 4: "Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Bobby - age 7: "Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Noelle - age 7: "'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."
Clare - age 6: "My mummy loves me more than anybody You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."
Elaine-age 5: "Love is when Mummy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
Lauren - age 4: "'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." (Yes, when I buy new clothing it's because I love my sisters)

Little kids just know how to say it.  Here's to the week :)

Mayhem

So the other day my mom calls me and tells me that when she was watching TV the Allstate commercial about the blind spot came on with Mayhem and she said, "Hey, Sam met him!" (remember how I got in that accident) and then as she continued watching saw that the second car he is on, the Subaru, is the same car I have.  Coincidence?

Darn Mayhem!

Please enjoy these Mayhem commercials.  If I picked my insurance company by the commercials, Allstate would win.

I know it's only Thursday, but . . .

1.   A nervous habit I have is   biting my nails and playing with my hair.  Although, sometimes I play with my hair just because.  (This is to throw people off so they don't know if I'm nervous or just playing with my hair, ha. Just kidding)  I also blush and go really red which is humiliating because it's a dead giveaway.

2.   Something that makes me sad is   when something sad happens a family member or a friend.  It's hard watching someone you love go through a hard time     .

3.  Today I am thankful for    my many blessings. This month has been hecka stressful with school and work and then I got in that accident and was like "crap how am I gonna pay for all this" but Heavenly Father is looking out for me and knows what I can and can't handle. I just have to remember that  .

4. My favorite room in my house is    my bedroom.  It's the only room that's really mine because I live in an apartment so it's my safe haven  .

5.  I can't stand    the texture of yogurt.  I gag every time I eat it.  I have to have something else crunchy to eat with it or it doesn't go down.  Does anyone else have that problem?

6.  If I had an extra $100 to spend on whatever I wanted today I would    buy something awesome.  Probably some clothes.  Or new shoes because I am in desperate need of new shoes.  Most of mine have holes in them .

7.  The last person I hung out with was   Ashley, for a little bit .

When my dad is bored . . .

Texting conversation between my Dad and I today:

Dad:  What has six legs and three teeth?
Me:  What?
Dad:  The night crew at Denny's.

Yep, I think he was bored.

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

Best 2 minutes and 36 seconds of my day.

I got chills.

The Weekend

Friday was my brothers birthday.  On Saturday, I took him to Tucanos for dinner.  Whenever I go there, I always wish I could eat more because there is so much food and not enough stomach.  I didn't even get all the way around the salad bar before my plate was full.  Mmmm, it was delicious.  Then we went and walked around the mall.  My brother wanted to hit up the music store.  He is an amazing guitar player, so he started jamming out at Best in Music.

We went to this really weird store that had swords and chainmail and a lot of other really weird, random stuff.  There was a fireplace in there and Indy stopped at it and said, "You know what this is?!" and then he pretended to throw something in it and said "Diagon Alley!" Ha ha ha ha.  He rocks.  Also, my mom found all of the Harry Potter movies at Wal*Mart for $4 each (well, all but the 2nd one) and she got them for me.  She rocks.  Harry Potter marathon, anyone?

Later that night, I had a sleepover with Aubrey.  We watched Hook, but didn't finish it because we fell asleep.  When I took her home the next day, I walked into the house to see a giant pile of paper snowflakes on the living room floor.  My family had decided they wanted to make 500 snowflakes and they were going to put them all in my sister's room before she got home from work.  I'm not sure why, haha.  That didn't end up happening because cutting snowflakes gets old pretty fast.

So here's to this week.  It's going to be a busy one.  My goal is to get all of my homework assignments done before Friday because my grandma and uncle are coming down on Saturday and I know I won't want to do anything while they're here.

Happy Monday :)

And This is Why I Don't Like Driving

11/11/11 is supposed to be a magical day.  I had been looking forward to this day ever since I R.S.V.P'd on Facebook.  That night I was on my way to my friends so we could head up to a wedding reception and I was just driving in a lane when a dang car pulled into the lane I was in.  I could either slam on my breaks or go into the other lane.  I decide to go into the other lane, but then I saw a car that had been in my blind spot  so I decided to try to go back in the lane I had been in but then the other car was there and I side swiped them.

Ugggghhh.  That was not my exact thought, but I'm editing for reader consideration.  Luckily it was just my drivers side mirror that got damaged.  And the side is scratched but it's just a flesh wound.  The car that I hit was a car from a dealership that someone was test driving. Great.  I'm not looking forward to having to call my insurance and paying the citation for "improper lane travel."  Oh well, could've been worse.  Now I get to drive a ghetto car with the side mirror duct taped on.

But, I did make an epic wish at 11:11 though.

Fill in the Blank

1.   My favorite new blog of the moment is     The Freckled Italian  .

2.   Something I am thankful for is   my iPod because how would I go on long car riges or run without one?  I don't know how they did it in the old days.

3.  Something that made me laugh this week was    the 3rd grader in class saying that he was going to go home and play violent video games, lol   .

4. An item that is currently on my wish list is    a new pair of shoes.  Also, a fish eye lens.  I want one sooooo bad   .

5.  I am excited about    my grandma and uncle coming here from Arizona next week.  I haven't seen them in a long time.  Years.  Can't wait!

6.  If I were a color I would be     turquoise.  Because it's an awesome color, and it's fun to say .

7.  My favorite way to spend a chilly fall day is by    laying under a blanket watching movies or reading a book .

Dinner Plans

I was going to make spaghetti for dinner tonight, so I started my noodles and then went into my room to do something.  A few minutes later, I went back out there to check on them and realized I had turned on the wrong burner. "Ugh," I thought.  So, I turned off the burner that was on and went back to my room.  A few minutes later I went back out there to check on the noodles again and saw that they still weren't boiling.  Why?  Because I had forgot to turn on the right burner.  So, I turned the right burner on and then went on about my business.  Then I totally forgot about the noodles and by the time I checked on them they were a soggy mess.

At this point I gave up and ate cereal.

1 Year

On November 4, I reached my year mark for my Project 365.  For one year I took a picture every single day. That's a lot of pictures.  Because my computer has crashed twice in the past year (don't worry, I now back up like crazy) and because blogger deleted all my pictures because it felt like it one day, I only have 142 of those days.  But I swear I did take pictures every day for a year!  I am not doing it right now, but I'm going to start up again on January 1, 2012.

So, here is my life from June 17, 2011 to November 4, 2011:
