Today's 365

Isn't that so cute? I saw this couple on the bus today, and I couldn't help put take a picture.  I don't think there's anything more romantic than growing old with someone.  These people look like they've been through everything together.  And it was so cute watching them interact.  They weren't sure what stop they needed, so the wife grabbed her husbands hand and told him to go ask the bus driver (I'm assuming that's what she said, she was speaking Japanese, or something) and he got up and asked and then when he came back he kinda lost his balance and she put her arm up to help him sit down.  It was just cute.

I hope when I get old, me and my hubby can have matching, ugly sunglasses :)

I'm not lying. I'm creating magic.

So for Christmas I got a Grow Your Own Mermaid in my stocking because I love the movie "The Little Mermaid." My little sister Aubrey got really, really excited and she wanted to help me grow it.

So one day we got a jar and the mermaid.  Aubrey and I put our hands around the mermaid and made our wishes.  We decided that because we were both wishing on the same mermaid that if we told each other our wishes they would still come true.  She wished for a computer, and I wished for a boy (and now whenever she talks about the mermaid she always whispers to me, "Remember, you wished for a boy" except her whispering is pretty loud, so now everyone knows I wished for a boy).  Then we plopped the mermaid in the water and got a spoon and stirred the water while saying, "Mermaid, Mermaid return to the sea, and grant the wishes we ask of thee" or something like that.

I told her that when the mermaid got big enough she would leave the jar and return to the sea, and when she did our wishes would come true.  She got all excited.  So for the next few days she would give me an update everyday about how the mermaid was still in the jar.  After a few days when the mermaid had gotten bigger, I took the mermaid out of the jar and put it in a container and gave it to my madre to hide until I could get rid of it. Only I didn't remember to get rid of it, and apparently she didn't hide it very well because a couple days later my brother comes downstairs with the container with the mermaid in it and asks, "What's this."  And of course Aubrey saw.

But I couldn't tell her that it was fake!  It's like telling a little kid there is no Santa.  You just don't do that, til their like 18 (haha ok not that old).  So I quickly made up a story about how the mermaid got lost on her way to the sea and we'd have to put her back in the jar until she got big again and then she could go.

My mom just thinks I'm digging myself in a bigger whole because I keep having to make up more lies to cover it.

But I'm not lying, I'm creating magic.

The Three Amigos.

So last week was Kiley's birthday, so last weekend Ashley, Kiley and I all got together to celebrate.

Me and Ashley waiting for Kiley

Ashley looking for something in her bag as we waiting for Kiley.

We went to the mall and walked around because we didn't know what to do. (Side note: I got a freakin cute scarf for like $5. I was pretty excited)

Then we went to this place in Provo called Spark . . .

where we got drinks.

Non alcoholic of course.

Then we didn't know where to go again, and we were all "chicky-chicky" ing (This is where you make a fist with your thumb out and put it on your forehead and the last one to get their hand to their forehead is the one who has to decide or do whatever it is everyone doesn't want to do)

So we went to One Man Band.

Lots of talking, laughing, and just being us.

It was a fun night :)

Do you ever wonder . . .

(Courtesy weheartit.com)

Periodically I will contemplate my life.  Just stop and think about where I am, what I'm doing, if I'm really happy, what I could do better, stuff like that.  Last night was one of those nights.  I was driving home from work, thinking about my life.  I won't go into the boring details of all I thought but I did think of something that I've been thinking about lately that's kinda an interesting thought.

One day I was at work, and one of the supervisors was introducing us to people that also worked there that I had never met because normally I work at night, and most normal people work in the day.  So anyways, he said, "Have you ever wondered if you were to meet yourself, if you would like yourself?" and then introduced us to the person who was like him. He, fortunately, liked her.

But it got me thinking.  If I were to meet me, would I like me?

It reminds me of a story from when I was little.  It was when I still lived in AZ, so I was young, maybe 3 or 4 and we had gone to Chuckie Cheese, or someplace like that.  I was trying out my skills at the skee ball machine, and I had just finished when I looked over to the side and I see a girl.  She's my age, brown hair and brown eyes, just like me, and she was looking at me too.  I smiled and she smiled.  I was thinking I had made a new friend.  She waived and I waived at the same time. I was thinking, "Holy cow! We should be friends because we think exactly alike."  I wanted to go say hi so I started walking towards her and she started walking towards me.  We were getting closer and closer until . . .

I ran into a mirror.

After that I remember my mom coming over and I was rubbing my head (because it hurts when you walk into a mirror) and apparently she had seen the whole thing because she was laughing hysterically, but trying to ask me if I was ok and what I was doing.  I had just wanted to be friends with the girl who I met playing skee ball.

Fill in the Blank Friday (on a Thursday)

1. My favorite quote is:  I have so many quotes that I love.  I keep a book full of them.  But I think my all time favorite is "Whatever you are, be a good one." by Abraham Lincoln

2. A bad habit I have is: biting my nails.  I have been trying to quit since the 5th grade and more then 10 years later I am still biting them.  Hmmm.

3. The first time I felt like a "grown up" was when:  I don't know if I've had the official "grown - up" moment yet.  I do lots of grown up things, like go to work and pay my bills and be responsible, but I still feel like a kid, but now I have to do things.

4. Weekends are:  The best thing in the world.  I wake up each Monday counting down until the next Saturday.  I love the feeling Friday night, going to bed and knowing that if I don't want to get out of bed the next day until noon, I don't have to.  It's great.

5. When I was a child I wished my name was: Savannah.  I remember naming a little doll (which is weird because I really didn't play with dolls) Savannah because I wanted that name.  But I don't even like the name now, ha.

6. I wish I was done with school.  No more worries about grades and deadlines and homework.  But I want to be a teacher so I guess I'll always have to worry about that.

7. A secret I have is I'd tell you but I'd have to kill you.

Yes, I make Office references in every day life.

I love The Office.  I am addicted. I admit it.  I watch the show just about every night before I go to bed.  Because I love it.  Someone asked me how many times I'd watched all the season, and I have no idea, but I'm sure it's a lot.  My old roommates would always tease me that I would quote lines from The Office all the time, or they would tell me something and I would say, "It's like in The Office when . . ." and then go on to tell something that happened in the show.  A lot of my Facebook statuses are Office quotes.  But there are so many good quotes.  So this post is dedicated entirely to The Office.  No, I am not watching this as I type this, but yes, I do wish I were :)

Jim Halpert: Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galatica

Dwight Schrute: Through simple concentration I can both raise and lower my cholesterol.
Pam Beesly: Why would you raise your cholesterol?
Dwight Schrute: So I can lower it.

Michael Scott: Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

Phyllis: Does everyone know my boyfriend, Bob Vance?
Kevin: Kevin Malone.
Bob: Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration.
Stanley: Stanley Hudson.
Bob: Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration.
Ryan: Ryan Howard.
Bob: Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration.
[pause]
Ryan: What line of work you in, Bob?

Dwight: Michael always says "K-I-S-S. Keep it simple, stupid." Great advice. Hurts my feelings every time.

(very, very bad recording but it's the best YouTube had.)

Girl: I found the needle in the hay stack!
Dwight Schrute: Hey congratulations! Do you know what your prize is?
Girl: I dunno.
Dwight Schrute: Nothing. Life lesson, some tasks are not worth doing.

Michael Scott: I enjoy having breakfast in bed. I like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me. And since I don't have a butler, I have to do it myself.

Dwight Schrute: I.D. badges are long overdue. Security in this office park is a joke. Last year, I came to work with my spud gun in a duffel bag. I sat at my desk all day, with a rifle that shoots potatoes at 60 pounds per square inch. Can you imagine if I was deranged?

Michael Scott: I love inside jokes. I'd love to be a part of one someday.

Dwight Schrute: Why tip someone for a job I’m capable of doing myself? I can deliver food. I can drive a taxi. I can, and do, cut my own hair. I did however, tip my urologist, because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.

Michael Scott: Guess what? I have flaws. What are they? Oh I donno, I sing in the shower? Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I'll hit somebody with my car.

Dwight Schrute: No, don't call me a hero. Do you know who the real heroes are? The guys who wake up every morning and go into their normal jobs and get a distress call from the commissioner and take off their glasses and change into capes and fly around, fighting crime. Those are the real heroes.

Michael Scott: “My philosophy is basically this. And this is something that I live by. And I always have. And I always will. Don't ever, for any reason, do anything to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what. No matter ... where. Or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or ... or where you've been ... ever. For any reason, whatsoever.”

Does this make you just want to go watch The Office?  I do.

I Am Number 4

So, I have been so crazy busy with school that I don't even blog at work because I do homework.  Wow.  That is sad.

But I finished my current read of "I Am Number Four" which was pretty good.  Very easy to read and good story.  It's a series, so the only bad part is I have no idea what happens now and it's killing me! AHH!  But if you need an entertaining, fast paced read, then I would suggest this.  It's not my normal type of book, because it has to do with aliens from a different planet, and it's a little more sci-fi then I read, but it was good.  If you really don't want to read it, don't you worry, they made it into a movie that comes out in February.

Here Comes the Sun

So I saw the coolest thing this morning. It was kinda cloudy/foggy/mostly foggy, so when you would look at the sun it was a perfect circle, it almost looked like the moon.  And you could look right at it too without being blinded.

This picture really doesn't even do it justice, especially since it was taken on my phone, but it was really cool.

So school has started again.  This semester is my first in the Elementary Education program, and I can already tell it's going to be a crazy, busy semester.  I have seven classes that I'm taking. And yes some of them are 2 credit classes, as opposed to 3 credit classes, but do teachers really care how many credits their class is? No, they don't.  They still assign just as much homework.  But people graduate and become teachers all the time, so there's hope I can make it out alive!

"The heart has reasons that reason does not understand."

So I was riding the bus home from campus the other day and looked out the window and saw this. I thought it was pretty cool. It's a heart :) Needless to say it made my photo of the day.

Here Comes the Sun . . .

My friend Ashley (you can check her out here) sent me this picture today. Isn't it great?

Because Star Wars is cool . . .

My Star Wars shirt. I like it.

So Amberly and I (look at that correct grammar. go me!) went to the Provo Mall and in the parking lot was a VW Van. I love these vans! What's cool is it was all decked out for Christmas, complete with lights and a wreath on the front. I want one :)

So, naturally, we stopped and took pictures in front of it.

While at the mall I got a sweet "Excuse of the Day Calendar."  It's pretty funny.
So, now if someone asks me to do something, and I really don't want to, all I have to do is consult my calendar.
