IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All those exclamation points in the title do not even come close to showing how excited I am.

Back in September my car broke.  It had been having overheating problems for awhile, and we found out that the head gasket had blew which pretty much meant that I would have to pay a couple thousand dollars if I wanted to get it fixed by a mechanic because in order to get to the head gasket you have to take the whole engine out.

My dad told me he'd fix it, and I was so glad because the only thing I'd have to buy were the parts.

And, NOW IT IS WORKING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I am so excited! 6 months without my car, and having to drive the mini van everywhere was way too long.  My brother helped fix it too.  I'm really lucky I have two handy men living in my house.

Today is my first day in of field.  For the next 3 weeks I will be in a 4th grade classroom and I will have to teach some lessons.  To real live 4th graders.  Ah! That's kind of nerve wracking!  But so exciting :)

Plan to be surprised . . .

Do you ever have those days, or those situations in your life where nothing works out?  You plan something, it doesn't go through.  You want something, it doesn't happen. I wonder why I work so hard to make something happen, or make something fit into place, to see it all fall apart.  Recently I've had one of those things happen where I just want to lay in my bed and cry my eyes out.  I'm not trying to be all depressing, or all "whoa whoa is me" but it just got me thinking about my plans, and what's worked and what hasn't.

I really believe that things have a way of working out.  If something is meant to happen, it will.  That doesn't mean I can sit idly by and do nothing, but things have a way of falling into place.  Anything in my life that I've tried to force has fallen apart.  Whether it be what I should do with my life, relationships, changing my major, whatever.  You can't fit a square peg in a round hole.  I've found that things that I'm supposed to do have worked out.

Have you seen the movie "Dan in Real Life"?  If not, you should because it's great.  But I love this quote from the movie:

“I want to talk to you about the subject of plans…
life plans and how we all make them,
how we hope that our kids make good, smart, safe plans of their own.
But if we’re really honest with ourselves, most of our plans don’t work out as we’d hoped.
So instead of asking our young people, ‘What are your plans?
What do you plan to do with your life?’,
maybe we should tell them this:
Plan… to be surprised.”

10 K. Check!

On Saturday I ran my first 10K.  I was pretty excited.  I started running maybe a year or so ago, and I have been trying to make my way up, so that maybe one day I'll be able to run a marathon because that's on my bucket list.  Amberly is my running buddy, and our goal is to run the Halloween Half Marathon in October.  So we'll see :)

This is before . . .

And this is after . . .

Yeah I don't really know what kind of face I was making, haha.

Fill in the Blank

.

1. My biggest accomplishment in life thus far is: getting into a student art gallery at one of the schools I went to.  I was so excited.  I got to display my photo's for a week and it was just my work, which was really cool.

2. My favorite place to sit in my house is: my bed.

3. My fashion philosophy is: coordinating colors.  It doesn't have to necessarily match, it just has to go together.

4. Something every girl should have is: a cute bag.  I love bags. I have been really good lately about not buying new ones, but I went through a phase where I'd have a new one a month.

5. If you looked in my purse right now you'd find.... everything! Seriously, it is my junk/random things spot.  I usually have a book, water bottle, papers, my charger for my gps, umbrella, garbage.

6. My favorite music right now is: Old stuff.  Like the beatles, or the Doors. Elvis.  I haven't really listened to the Doors a lot before but I think I may be a fan.

7. My favorite part of my body is: what it allows me to do.  I'm running a 10K tomorrow, and it's such a cool thought to know that I can do that.  I can walk, I can see, I can hear.  The body is amazing!

So my friend Ashley (click here) tagged me in this Handwriting game.  I don't normally do "tagged" things, but I decided to do this one.

What you must do is write out these questions so we can see your handwriting. Easy enough, right?

the questions:
1. what's your name and blogger name?
2. what's your blog's URL?
3. Write, "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
4. Favorite quote?
5. Favorite song?
6. Favorite band/singers?
7. Anything else you want to say?
8. Tag bloggers to participate.

Current Read

So I decided to change my current read.  Mostly because the Grapes of Wrath is around 400 pages, and I need something a little bit shorter to read.  I will come back to that one, but a 200 page read seems a bit easier to chew at the moment.  So my new Current Read is . . .

Lord of the Flies by William Golding

One Random Post

So I have a lot of things I want to blog about.  And a lot of pictures I want to put on here.  So this is going to be a really random post full of pictures and random things.

First things first, yesterday was Aubrey's birthday.  She is 6 going on 25 now.  It's amazing how much sass can be fit in that tiny little body of hers.

This is her cake.  So dang adorable! I made it :) LOL, just kidding! I wish I could make something that cute.

Secondly, my family has a new pet.  When most people get new pets they get a cat or a dog, or a fish, maybe a bird.  But when my family gets a new pet we get a lamb.  Yes that's right, a lamb.  My sister works at a farm so she always brings home random animals.  It's actually kind of fun.

The last lamb we got was when I was living in Logan so I never met her, but they named her Mint Jelly because you eat mint jelly with lamb.  Rude, huh!  The lamb we have now, her name is Belle.  It's a lot nicer then Mint Jelly.  My mom wanted to name her Chopper, like lamb chops, but thankfully that was vetoed.

Yes, that is a diaper on the lamb :)

It was so hard to get a picture because she wouldn't keep still!

After Aubrey's party me and my sister got bored and decided to draw faces on balloons.

Look, it's Megamind!  (If you haven't seen that movie, you really should because it's hilarious!)

These are just a couple of pictures that I took yesterday that I really liked.

So, yeah.  How was that for the most random post ever?

Fill in the Blank March 4, 2011

1.   The phrase or punctuation I overuse most is  probably the word dang.  It  can fit into just about any conversation.  For example someone could tell you "I'm having a really bad day" and you reply "Dang, I'm sorry" or someone could say, "Listen to this song, it rocks" and you say "Dang yeah it does" or you can simply just say dang.  Seriously, it's a pretty universal word.

2.  Today I am thankful for  the fact that the weekend is here.  I have been having the worst hair week ever, and I had two (sorta three) presentations this week, and I put on a dress today for a presentation and realized it had a huge stain on it after I was gone.  So yeah, I'm excited for the weekend.

3.  My best friend is   my sisters and Ashley and Amberly.

4.  A quirky thing about me is     i hi-lite things to do in my planner according to order of importance.  Pink means "Do today" Orange is "Need to do soon, like this week" Blue and Yellow are just "This is coming up, you'll have to do it soon." Yeah I'm super organized (hahaha, not)

5.  This weekend I     have no idea what I'll be doing.  Sleeping for sure.  Cleaning.  Laundry.  And hopefully something exciting :)

6.  Something that worries me is       doing my field for school in a couple weeks.  I'll actually be going into a classroom of real live 4th grade students and teaching them.  Ahhh!

7.  On my night stand you would find       a lamp, a quote tile thingy, a little bird statue, 3 books: (A Year with C.S. Lewis, Stand A Little Taller, and another quote book by Sheri Dew but I can't remember the name) my water bottle, and my cell phone.

Aubrey

I love this little girl right here.

She has the most beautiful eyes in the world.

I always try to capture it on camera but I can never get her to do a serious face because she is the biggest cheese ball in the world.  But needless to say, I am very jealous of her eyelashes.  She definitely got the ones I signed up for in the pre-existence.

She's going to be six on Monday.  We adopted her when she was a year and a half and it's crazy to think she's going to be six. It's been so fun watching her grow up.  Yesterday morning she was reading "The Giving Tree" to my mom, and she knew all the words.  That's her favorite book, and I love that I was the first one to read it to her.

It makes me sad for her biological mom sometimes because she's missing all these great moments.   But I am really glad I get to be there for them.

Weezer Lovin

:)

My friend Jeff made this.  Love it.

It's a really small image so it's really distorted, but it's awesome anyways :)

Weird

I've always loved the sky (I think I talked about that earlier) so I'll always take pictures of the sky.  I took this one awhile ago, in July or August I think, and was looking at it once I uploaded it to my computer and noticed that

THERE ARE EYES IN THE SKY!  Do you see them?

So weird!

"be happy, for this moment, this moment is your life."

So I was reading something somewhere, I don't remember where, and it was talking about how she had gone to Greece and she was living solely in the present at that moment.  Not worrying about yesterday, or tomorrow.  Just living.  Being in the moment.  I loved that.  It really got me thinking because how many times do I forget to live because i'm fretting about the past or worrying about the future.  Honestly, what can I really do about either of those things right now?  Yes, I can prepare, and yes, that's important, but what good is preparation if I forget to live right now?  I need to learn to savor the moment.  To be happy with exactly what I have, when I have it.

So you know those things that you always tell yourself that some day, when you're settled, or when you're graduated, or when you're this, or that, you'll do.  I'm gonna do them.

So here's to living in the moment.

Superman vs. Superman

I am a HUGE superman fan.  I love him.  Not just because he is quite gorgeous (he's Superman, of course he's gorgeous) but because he really is the best superhero out there.  So when I found out they were making another Superman movie, I was pretty excited.  But, while I am stoked they are coming out with another Superman movie, I don't know how I feel about the guy they are getting to play Superman.

In Superman Returns they had Brandon Routh.  And pretty much I was in love with him :)

And for the new Superman they have casted Henry Cavill.

Ok, he's not bad.  He's actually pretty cute, BUT I think I'm still a fan of Brandon as Superman.

What do you think?
