Summer Movies

There have been a lot of good movies that came out this summer.  Let's just recap, shall we.

First off, The Avengers.  I know this came out back in May, but it's so good that it can't be left off from this list.  First off, amazing cast.  Second, hilarious.  Third, Thor. Fourth, Iron Man. Fifth, Thor.

This movie was better than I thought it was going to be.  I thought the imagery in the movie was beautiful and Kristen Stewart actually wasn't half bad.  (Except for when she yelled to try and motivate the troops. Gah!)

I didn't really care about seeing this movie, but it was pretty good.  I actually really liked it.  I'm still torn between deciding if I like Tobey better as Spiderman (and I think I do), but I loved Emma Stone in this.

What a cool movie this is!  If you're going to watch it, you need to make sure you are really paying attention because it's a silent movie.  I think it's so cool you can tell a whole story that makes sense while using little to no words.

Such a cute movie! It was a lot different than I expected, only because I really didn't know the plot line.  It made me want to talk in an Irish Accent though.

Want to see:

Can't tell you how excited I am to see this one!  The last two Batman's have been amazing and I can't wait to see what this one holds.

I think this movie looks so cute! Every one needs a heart felt kid movie in their life, and this will be mine.

Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby? Yes please.  It's a Baz Luhrmann so I'm interested to see the take he has on it because he has a very unique feel to his movies.  Regardless, Merry Christmas to me!

And last, but most certainly not least, Superman: Man of Steel.  That isn't the movie cover, but who cares, it's Superman.

So Much To Blog About

I love school being out.  It's much more fun then when school is in.  This week has been busy/fun/lazy.  I've meant to blog about all of these things but I was far too lazy to do anything as productive as blogging.  So here is a recap of the week:

  • Watched almost the entire 8th season of Grey's Anatomy.  Only a few more episodes left.  I sure hope Lexi and Sloan end up together because they are perfect together.
  • Worked. Blah.  Only for 4 hours a day so I really can't complain. Next week will be more hours which is good.  And bad.
  • Went to a baseball game.  UVU vs. BYU and UVU won. Take that BYU!
  • Went to The Black Keys and Arctic Monkey's concert.  So good! Like, so good!
  • Saw Avengers!! Ahhh! This movie was amazing and I was highly impressed.  My favorite quote:
Thor: He's my brother
Natasha Romanoff: He killed 80 people in 2 days
Thor: ...He's adopted

Ha! Love that movie.  I want to see it again now.

You can be blasé about some things but not about Titanic

Ah, Titanic.  This will go down as one of the best movies ever.  I finally got around to seeing it on Wednesday.  I'm not the biggest fan of 3D but I really wanted to see it in the theater again, so it was worth having to wear the annoying glasses for 3 hours.  We went to a matinee on a weekday so there was no one else in the theater.  It was pretty awesome.  There is something about that movie on the big screen that makes my tear ducts go crazy.  Like the scene where Rose is on the safety boat going down and Jack is on the Titanic and they are just looking at each other.  Or the scene when the old people are laying on the bed with the water is coming in their room.  I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it.

New Read.

I finished Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone today and started a new read.  I love that I'm getting more time to read now.

My new read is "I Am The Messenger" by Markus Zusak.  I've been wanting to read this for awhile and got it for Christmas, but I forgot about it.  I'm tellin ya, I'm losing my mind these days.

Also, have you seen I Am Sam?  If not, you need to watch it.  Like, today.  It is such a good movie.  The story is awesome.  The music is amazing! (I am a sucker for anything Beatles). You'll laugh.  You'll cry.  Okay, I'm going to go watch it now.

Coming Soon to a Theater Near You

I can't wait until 2012 because there are some pretty awesome movies coming out. There are two that I am really excited about.  Really excited.  So excited.  Ok, you can tell I'm excited.

First, The Great Gatsby. Ahhhh! Leonardo Decaprio will be playing Jay Gatsby (perfect) and Carey Mulligan will be playing Daisy Buchanan (also perfect.)

On a semi-related note, I want this shirt.

And then . . . the most exciting movie . . .

The Hunger Games!  I am so excited to see what they do for this movie.  They better do a good job because I have this movie imagined perfectly in my head.  If not, we can put all the producers in a Hunger Games.
JUST KIDDING!  That's not nice.  But we can send them a strongly worded letter.

Is the four note tune at the end Rue's song? Speculations? Guesses? Anyone know for sure?

Well there goes a piece of my childhood.

I just barely got around to seeing Harry Potter.  Not because I didn't want to, but I couldn't find anyone to go with me.  I even contemplated going by myself, because I wanted to see it that bad.  But I didn't and I finally got to see it tonight with a couple of my sisters and . . .

Wow.  Harry Potter rocks!

I grew up with Harry Potter.  I remember reading the first book when I was in 6th grade.  I remember falling in love with Hogwarts, and with the idea of a magical land where witches and wizards really lived.  I hated the fact I was a muggle, and wished I would get an acceptance letter from Hogwarts. (Mostly so I could have a wand and apparate. And meet Harry).  As Harry grew up, I grew up.  We were about the same age when the first books came out, and we were about the same age when the series ended.  Watching the final movie is like a conclusion of a part of my childhood.

Could the space of my fingers get any bigger? Seriously, that's the widest peace sign ever.

Overcast days make me happy.

This is gonna be one random blog post.  There is no rhyme or reason to it.  At all.

First things first, it's mostly overcast today and that makes my happy.  Don't get me wrong, I love the sun, but overcast days are my favorite.

Secondly, on a much more exciting note, WEEZER IS DOING A CRUISE! HA! How cool is that?  It's in January, and I have no idea where they're going, but does it really matter?  It's Weezer.  For only $799, I could be jammin' out to The Sweater Song in the middle of a tropical ocean.  Too bad I am a poor college student.

Thirdly, I watched Penelope last night/today, and I just have to say that I love that movie.  It's a really cute story with a really good message.  I love Penelop's style, and I love Reese Witherspoon's hair, and I love all of James McAvoy.  Especially when he sings "You Are My Sunshine."

Fourth, I made a budget today.  Well, not a budget by the standard definition of a budget, but a plan to save money and pay off school and be better at spending.  Budgeting sounds like such a grownup word, and I sometimes listen to Disney music and think it's hilarious when someone farts in public, so clearly I'm not a grownup, BUT it is always good to be smart with money.  I took an amazing family finance class while attending USU and we had to read a book called "The Automatic Millionaire."  (It's such a great read, and actually pretty entertaining) that really changed my way of thinking about what I spend my money on.  Now I just need to apply it.

Fifth, I am making good on my goal to read the entire Book of Mormon by my birthday (October 25! BEST DAY EVER!)  I've missed a few days, so I might be a little behind, but it's been a great experience thus far.

Sixth, Sara Evan has always sung to my heart.  "I Keep Looking" is pretty much my life, and "Born to Fly" is my theme song.  It seems her lyrics are always something I need/relate to/are just great.  She has a newer one "A Little Bit Stronger" that has been my favorite lately, so I made this little thing for it.

Seventh, (and my final bit of randomness, I promise), it really makes my day when I check my email and see that people have commented on my blog.  Or when I notice a new follower.  I'm sure all people who blog feel that same way.  I didn't make this blog with the intention of writing for an audience, or trying to get followers, or anything like that, but it does make me happy that other people look at it, and care about what I have to ramble about.  So thanks.

Happy Tuesday :)

"Well, there's the usual things: flowers... chocolates... promises you don't intend to keep..."

Can I just tell you how much I love Disney movies?  I love them.  So much.  I ordered Beauty and the Beast a couple weeks ago, and it came today.  I'm watching it as I type this.  Ugh, Gaston, get over yourself.  I also got I Am Sam.  That is another great movie that if you haven't seen I HIGHLY recommend.  That was capital and in italiacs, so you pretty much need to see it.  You won't regret it.

Today after work, me and my friend Syretta headed up the canyon for a little photoshoot.  I somehow talked her into letting me practice my picture-taking skills on her.  (I really can't wait until I can get a Digital SLR).  It was a lot of fun.  She is so beautiful, inside and out, and we had a good time taking pictures.  Afterwords we went and got Cafe Rio (mmm, so good) and I helped her with her blog.

Here are some of my favorites from today:

Birthday Party Cheese Cake Jelly Bean Boom!

Name that song!

If you are reading this, it means you survived the end of the world.  Congratulations!

Can you believe all the hype for that?  The guy who predicted it has got to be feeling pretty silly right about now.  What's funny is today was the best weather we have had all week.  Sunny.  Warm.  Dry.  It was great.

Me and Amberly went and got lunch after I got off of work.  We went to Chili's, because Chili's is delicious.  We heard "It's The End of the World" by R.E.M. while we were waiting for our food.  Coincidence?

And we got Chocolate Molten Cake because a) it was the end of the world, and b) even if it wasn't the end of the world, it is amazingness in the form of dessert.  Their White Chocolate one was better, but they don't have it anymore. Sad, huh?  I thought so.

I love the tile on their tables.  I always stare at it when I go there, because I have been trying to find tile like this so I can finish my table.  I bought an old table from D.I. awhile ago and painted it, and I was wanting to tile the top of it, but I could never find tiles that I liked.  I wonder if Chili's would notice if tiles were missing from the table . . .

Then we walked around the mall.  You should all be so proud, because I didn't buy anything.  But we did try on nerdy glasses and take pictures because we're cool like that.

Ashley and I went and saw the 4th Pirates movie.  I'll be honest, I wasn't that big of a fan.  It was really long, and dragged in some parts.  Although I did like looking at my pirate crush, Jack Sparrow.

Tomorrow I fully intend to sleep in.  My work schedule is killing me on my sleep.

Did you guess "It's The End Of The World" by R.E.M for the song in the title?

While you were sleeping . . .

So the other day I was watching one of my favorite movies, While You Were Sleeping. Seriously, this is a great movie! Why do I love this movie, you ask? Well, let me tell you.

#1: It has Sandra Bullock in it.
#2: Her name is Lucy, and I love the name Lucy. #3: She falls in love with a guy named Jack, and I love the name Jack.
#4: The family is HILARIOUS!

Here are some great quotes:

Elsie: I like Mass better in Latin. It's nicer when you don't know what they're saying.

Jack
: That's something I'd like to talk to you about.
Midge Callaghan: Talk about that later ok?
Mary Callaghan
: Talk about it now, he can't kill you in church.

Lucy: If you fit into my pants I will kill myself.

Midge Callaghan: These potatoes are so creamy.

Lucy
: You give up your seat every day in the train.
Peter: Well... But that's not heroic.
Lucy: It is to the person who sits in it.

Lucy: [trying to heave a tree up to her second floor apartment through the window] $45 for a Christmas tree and they don't deliver? You order $10 worth of chow mein from Mr. Wong they bring it to your door.

[Joe Jr. knocks on door]
Lucy: Who is it?
Joe Jr.: Joe Jr.
Lucy: I'm not here.
Joe Jr.: I know that trick!

Lucy: [to Jack] Okay, um. What do you mean by the leaning thing? You mean because he gave me flowers?
Jack: And then you *leaned*
Lucy: And then I leaned.
Jack: Yeah.
Lucy: Okay, how did I lean when I leaned?
Jack: It was a lot different from hugging. Hugging's very different. Hugging that involves arms and hands; and leaning is whole bodies moving in like this
[leans toward her suggestively]
Jack: . Leaning involves *wanting*... and *accepting*. *Leaning*...
Joe Jr.: Hey Luce! Is this guy bothering you?
Lucy: [Laughs] No, no.
Joe Jr.: Are you sure? Because it looks like he's *leaning.*

Dr. Rubin
: [about Elsie] Is she all right?
Saul: [quietly] She has a little heart problem, she's had three attacks already.
Elsie: They weren't attacks, they were episodes.
Saul: Nothing wrong with her hearing.

Ah. What a great movie.
